The Triceratops is a Legendary pet introduced in the Prehistoric Update on July 5, 2025. It was obtainable from the Dinosaur Egg with a 32.5% chance, or via the DNA Converter during the event. Known for its powerful Tri-Horn passive ability, this dinosaur is perfect for players who focus on passive farming strategies and plant management.
Appearance
The Triceratops features a red, rugged body and three grey horns on its face — a clear tribute to the classic dinosaur from Dinosaur Simulator. It moves with a slow, heavy gait and has a spiked tail, emphasizing its prehistoric strength and durability.
Although the Triceratops is no longer obtainable after the Prehistoric Event, players who missed the opportunity can still strengthen their gardens in other ways. Try completing Dino Quests, trading with other players, or exploring the market to buy gag pets that offer unique and fun abilities. While they might not match the Triceratops’ legendary power, gag pets can still add creativity and charm to your Grow a Garden experience.
Trait — Tri-Horn
The Triceratops’ signature ability, Tri-Horn, automatically boosts plant growth periodically:
- Every 3 minutes and 33 seconds, the Triceratops charges into three random plants, advancing each of their growth stages by 33 minutes and 33 seconds.
- Each time this ability activates, there is a 15.18% chance it will trigger again, stacking multiple times.
This ability is especially useful for slow-growing crops or when the player is offline, as it allows for continuous, automated progress.
Note: The Triceratops cannot ram single-harvest crops.

How to Get a Triceratops in Grow a Garden
The Triceratops is one of six pets available from the Dinosaur Egg. While it’s a Legendary pet, its drop rate (32.5%) is significantly higher than rarer pets like the Mythical Brontosaurus or Divine T-Rex.
However, the Dinosaur Egg isn’t the only way to get prehistoric pets. You can also use the Dinosaur Eggs NPC, Graham, who offers a pet exchange mechanic:
- Give a pet to Graham — Depending on its rarity, you’ll either get a Dinosaur pet or a Dinosaur Egg.
- Trade-off: You’ll lose the pet you give to Graham, so make sure it’s one you can spare.
- Processing time: The exchange takes 1 hour to complete.
How to Get a Dinosaur Egg
There are two reliable methods to obtain Dinosaur Eggs during the Prehistoric Update:
- Give Pets to Graham
- Exchange a common pet for a Dinosaur Egg (takes one hour).
- Giving rarer pets increases the chance of receiving a dinosaur pet instead of just an egg.
- Complete Dino Quests
- Speak to the Prehistoric Quest NPC, Blaire.
- Completing three quests rewards you with:
- 1× Ancient Seed Pack
- 1× Dinosaur Egg
- 1× Dino Crate
Focus on Dino Quests if you want guaranteed eggs without sacrificing your existing pets.
